- Tomo Networks, a Stamford, Conn.-based mortgage and transaction company, raised $40 million in seed funding. Ribbit Capital, NFX and Zigg Capital led the round.

- WHOOP, a Boston-based maker of a subscription-based health monitoring watch, raised $100 million in Series E funding valuing it at $1.2 billion. - Cognite, a Norway-based industrial software company, raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding valuing it at $550 million. Accel led the round.
- DoubleVerify, a New York-based software platform for digital media measurement and analytics, raised $350 million in funding. Tiger Global Management led the round and was joined by investors including Fidelity Management & Research Company, BlackRock, and Neuberger Berman Investment Advisers.
- Scopely, a Los Angeles-based mobile games company, raised $340 million in Series E funding. Investors included Wellington Management, NewView Capital, TSG Consumer Partners, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, funds managed by BlackRock, D1, Battery Ventures, Eldridge, Declaration Partners, Moore Strategic Ventures, Greycroft, Baillie Gifford, Sands Capital, Revolution Growth, and Highland Capital Partners.
- Faire, an online wholesale marketplace, raised $170 million in Series E funding. Sequoia Capital led the round, valuing at $2.5 billion. - R2c, a San Francisco-based security tool set for developers, raised $13 million in Series A funding. Redpoint and Sequoia led the round.
- CodeSandbox, an Amsterdam-based startup that enables teams to prototype, build and host web applications with its rapid web development platform, raised $12.7 million in Series A funding. EQT Ventures led the round and was joined by investors including Kleiner Perkins, Arches Capital, and Guillermo Rauch.
- Donut, a maker of a Slack app for connecting remote teams, raised $12 million in funding led by Accel, and was joined by investors including Bloomberg Beta, FirstMark, and Slack Fund.
- Skan, a San Jose, Calif.-based computer vision platform, raised $14 million in Series A funding. Cathay Innovation led and was joined by investors including Citi Ventures, Zetta Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, Plug and Play Ventures, and Firebolt Ventures.
- Theta Lake, a Santa Barbara, Calif.-based cybersecurity and compliance solutions for video conferencing software, raised $12.7 million in Series A funding. - Benson Hill, a St. Louis, Mo.-based agricultural breeding startup for sustainable foods, raised $150 million in Series D funding. Wheatsheaf Group and GV (formerly Google Ventures) led the round.
- Apeel Sciences, Santa Barbara, Calif.-based makers of fruit and food coatings, raised another $30 million in funding from International Finance Corp, Temasek, and Astanor Ventures.
- Arable, a San Francisco-based maker of data solutions for agriculture, raised $20 million in Series B funding. Prelude Ventures led the round and was joined by investors including M2O, Nassau Street Ventures, and Tridon.
- Seatrec, a Monrovia, Calif.-based renewable energy company that harvests energy from temperature differences in the environment, raised $2 million in seed funding. Norge Larson led the round and was joined by investors including Sunstone Management, Frontier Angels, SeaAhead’s Blue Angels, and Pasadena Angels.
Acquisitions:
- Dunkin' Brands (Nasdaq: DNKN), operator of both Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, is in talks to be taken private for nearly $9 billion by Inspire Brands, a quick-serve restaurant platform sponsored by Roark Capital.
- Procore Technologies acquired Esticom, an Austin-based cloud-based preconstruction tech maker. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
- LVMH is in talks to slightly reduce the price of its planned acquisition of Tiffany, the luxury jeweler, per CNBC. LVMH previously sought to pay $16 billion, or $135 per share. Now deal talks are around $130 and $133 per share. Read more.

- Databricks, a San Francisco-based data analytics company, is preparing for an IPO that could come in the first half of 2021, per Bloomberg. Databricks has raised from investors including a16z, Coatue, NEA, Tiger Global Management, and BlackRock. Read more.
- Root, a Columbus, Oh.-based auto insurer, now plans to raise $578 million in an offering of 24.6 million shares (11% insider sold) priced between $22 to $25 as more insiders seek to sell their shares. It also plans to raise $500 million via a concurrent private placement from Dragoneer Investment Group and Silver Lake.
- WeWork, the New York-based office sharing startup, is on track to turn profitable in 2021 and will reconsider an IPO then, its CEO said. Read more.
