Met Gala ~ 0x Labs, TheGuarantors, Venly, Kard, Our Happy Company, CXIP Labs, Mad Realities, Afterparty, Concert Health, Waltz Health, Wisq, Frame Fertility, Anduril Industries, OneFootball, Hour One
The first Monday in May has arrived, and the most extravagant fashion-fwd fundraiser is back again. The Met Gala. Kim K finally revealed she is no longer a shadow, but in fact the star of the show, rocking the dress Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 valued at ~$5m with Pete D by her side (spray tan and all)… they’re the company you wished you could’ve met at the seed round because at over $95B they’re the most competitive private cap table… Stripe is that you? So, why don’t we take this time to compare some of the best haute moments with something we’re all more familiar with… startups.
Cardi B - the startup that hit it big and has raised more money than they know what to do with it, in all gold Versace… Yuga Labs we’re watching you
Alessandro Michele & Jared Leto - the creative director of Gucci and his muse take the red carpet like the founder and their prized possession companies… Elon and Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Co, Neuralink… Twitter
Megan Thee Stallion - in a feathery gold Moschino look about to take flight. With only 2.2% of total funding in 2021 going to female founders, she’s leading the movement…. valued over $40B that’s Canva’s Melanie Perkins
Kiki Layne - in a effortless soft and floral, glowing, Prabal Gurung, founded only a couple of years ago but exceeding expectations and making our jaws drop in their presence… FTX
Blake Lively - the queen has arrived, everyone knows her, in a Atelier Versace, transformational optical illusion that has the people in her hands, especially their wallets… OpenSea
And one more look for good measure.
Elon Musk swaps Grimes for his mom, Maye Musk in Dior, a wholesome duo you can’t talk bad about when he’s ruling the tech solar system. The world’s richest man and his mother. Cute.
Okay… back to the show.

Always enjoy your work, Molly! The pace that Left Lane capital has scaled is really outstanding -- Harry Stebbings did an interview with their founding partner on 20vc that had a ton of insights. They are trying to bring the quantitative rigor of growth equity to earlier-stage deals. I have a feeling there are pretty divisive opinions on how quantitative early deals can be, would love to hear your thoughts!
