Opendoor under CEO Kaz is starting to feel unserious. He seems to be trying very hard to project a Musk or Bezos-style hustle culture, celebrating the “sleep in the office” mindset and copying the aesthetic of iconic founders. But culture and credibility cannot be forced.

Truly strong brands and leaders do not imitate others. They build something original. When someone tries too hard to look cool or visionary, it usually has the opposite effect.

It increasingly feels like imitation rather than authentic leadership. And that is why the whole turnaround narrative with Kaz at the helm is beginning to look more awkward than convincing.

But @Molly O’Shea of course, did a fantastic job with the interview, and I genuinely respect her work.
